Since the Coronavirus Pandemic the job classifieds for Podiatrists have dried up. PM News went from running about 25 classified ads a day to now about 5-10 and most of those are practices for sale. The fact is practices have now had revenues slashed by about 65% and in case of some practices 100%. There are essentially no Podiatric jobs to find or look for. Nursing Home companies are not going into nursing homes so not even they are hiring.
The question is when will the market for Podiatric jobs reappear. Well new residents will be graduating at the end of June, so that leaves a massive issue. Podiatry is going to graduate a whole class of residents with no where to go and nothing to do. If you are one of those residents you should be able to apply for unemployment and that should buy you a couple of months. One other thing to look for is there may be purchasing opportunities for Podiatry practices that are slated to close, because their owners could not make it work. I would expect in late May a lot of Podiatry practices go on the market for sale when some older Podiatrists throw in the towel. There actually maybe some buying opportunities at the end of this mess. It may help to bone up by reading books on how to start a medical practice, or read about surgical procedures. There are many options.
